Try to come up with the WORST POSSIBLE IDEAS to solve your problem. What would be truly awful? Like vodka drinking fountains in public parks awful! Once you've got a list of horrible ideas, try to see if you can turn them around into good ideas (on-demand cocktail delivery service, anyone?).
Work like an improv group. Once someone throws out an idea, just keep adding to it. No stopping. No saying "no!" Just keep going and see where you end up. If nothing else, it'll get the blood flowing to your brain.
Sometimes your brain needs a little help forming new neural pathways. Try taking a different route to work. Instead of sitting at your desk all day, go work in the park for awhile. Or take a hike. Try a new food. Or listen to new music that's not your normal genre.
If you working on ideas for a brand or product, sometimes it helps to think about what you'd do if you had to compete with yourself. If you were a rival brand manager, how would you attack you? What would your brand be called? How would you advertise? You might learn something useful from this exercise that could lead you in new directions.
Sometimes it helps to just look at things in a different light. Try bringing a bag of random items to your brainstorm. Ask people to pick 2 or more and think about different ways they could be connected. The results can be weird, but it can often be a great way to get unstuck.
Change your perspective! Try reading a book or magazine upside down. Stand on your head (or, if you're not so limber, do a forward fold). You'll get that blood rushing to your head to supercharge your brain. Just 3 minutes of movement and reinvigorate your creative juices.
